Customers needs

Swap kitchen to opposite end of room to maximise the light and inject some colour into the space

Constraints

Large chimney at one end of room and it is a long narrow room

Our solution

We moved the kitchen to the other end of the room, and used tall slim larder units in front of the chimney (which couldn't be removed as it was structural). We added an island unit to create a more sociable cooking experience. We added a dining space and patio doors leading out to the garden.

The changes have transformed how this family use the space and it has brought them a lot of joy. They spend a huge amount of the time in the kitchen and having the courage to add some colour to the kitchen has also encouraged them to make bolder interior choices elsewhere in the house
